I came to the island of Olkhon when I was not even a year. My parents decided to move there mainly because of the economic crisis of '90 which made living on the «big land» very difficult. The second reason was that my father was born there and considered island for the safest place at that time. On Olkhon we were able to fish, grow plants in the garden and breed animals. But still, it wasn't an easy life. It was a small, closed community, without stable communication with the «big land» and without electricity.
In my childhood I spent a lot of time wandering around the island. My youthful mind was full of questions. I found out, that I was able to find answers for them during walks, when I was at movement. As a child, I used to associate my emotional states with trees and roots. It was helping me to turn my emotions into shapes and that way, to some extent, also to deal with them. Now, much later, I still use this method.
